Step 01
Paddy intake & grading
Every trolley is checked for moisture, grain fill and foreign matter before it is accepted at the mill.
Product Details
Maharashtra's everyday premium — short, soft and beautifully non-sticky.
Wada Kolam rice takes its name from Wada taluka in the Palghar district of Maharashtra, a paddy belt famous for producing some of the softest, most digestible short-grain rice in western India.
What sets Wada Kolam apart is the balance it strikes. The grains are short to medium, slightly rounded and pearly white. They cook quickly, stay separate rather than clumping, and carry a gentle, milky-sweet aroma that never overpowers the food it is served with.
At Our Mill
Step 01
Every trolley is checked for moisture, grain fill and foreign matter before it is accepted at the mill.
Step 02
Air aspiration and gravity de-stoners remove dust, husk, mud balls and stones from the lot.
Step 03
Whitening is done in stages so the grain is never stressed, which keeps breakage low and shape intact.
Step 04
Optical sorters pull out discoloured, chalky and immature grains for a bright, uniform pack.
Step 05
A sample from each batch is cooked and checked for texture and aroma before food-grade packing.
Nutrition and health profile
Wada Kolam is a naturally gluten-free carbohydrate source that delivers steady energy. A 100 g uncooked serving typically provides around 345-360 kcal, 6.5-7.5 g of protein, under 1 g of fat and small amounts of minerals.
Because the grain is small and the starch structure is soft, it is comparatively easy on digestion, which is why it is often preferred for daily dal-chawal, khichdi and simple home-style meals.

Kitchen guide
Rinse 2-3 times until the water runs mostly clear.
Soak for 15-20 minutes; over-soaking makes it too soft.
Use 1 cup rice to 1.75 cups water in a pot, or 1:1.5 in a cooker.
Simmer for 12-15 minutes, then rest 5 minutes before fluffing.
Chef's tip: Add a few drops of oil or ghee to the water for extra separation and a glossy finish.
